    User login passwords

    Guys,

Is there any free software that audits the AD server and detects whether any user is using weak passwords without letting anyone know what is the password?

I need to make sure everyone uses a strong password.

    Hi Kevin,

On AD, you can enable strong password such as complexity. Wonder of it helps.

    Hi! query,

I know I can set the group policies in the AD for a different set of password creation rules but that will cause a big hoo haa. What I want is a program to single out the users who are using weak passwords so that I can inform to change their passwords as they may be ignorant about it.

    Re: User login passwords

You will have to extract your AD SAM and run password cracking tools against it to identify weak passwords. However, this would cause a helluva bigger hoo haa from your users/management.

I would suggest you read through this comprehensive Technet article on Enforcing Strong Password Usage Throughout Your Organization:
