GPOs not applied when booting up from cold boot

There has been many recorded cases (as according to google) where GPOs weren't applied properly (especially for drive mapping) when users bootup their pc/laptop. it is noted that this is cause due to users are logging in using their cached credentials and during the time GPOs are ran, the network services has yet to be fully established.

I have yet to come across a good fix for this. Is there anyone who has a solution for this problem?

Re: GPOs not applied when booting up from cold boot

If your  clients are running on XP, you may have Fast Logon (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q305293/) turned on.

Use the following policy setting to turn off Fast Logon Optimization:

Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Logon\ Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon

With this enabled, an XP client behaves in the same manner as a Wi2K client at both system startup and at user logon. The drawback is, the logon process may take longer.
