    Idea [I] [Pls Read] - Welcome to Year 2010 !!

    Hi SWUGsters,

                    Welcome to year 2010. On 13th Jan 2010, the group leaders came together for a social dinner. Yes to eat! That is Singaporean’s favorite pastime isn’t it?

    We had a discussion on how we would like to take SWUG forward for the year and try something different. The gang set forth with our goals as a group. I am sharing them here;

    -          Learning, Learning and Learning: We want to help our group buddies level up their knowledge in the following aspects;

    o   Windows IT Infrastructure and technologies

    o   Core Computing Workloads in the Enterprise and SMB Scenarios

    o   Management and Control of IT Systems

    -          Sharing of knowledge

    -          Driving discussions and interactions

    I sure do hope all SWUGsters share the same ideas and come together with the same goals. It’s going to help us create conversations.

    Anyway, long story short. This is what we have laid out in the plans;

    1.       Monthly Meetups - We will continue our monthly activity to discuss topics of interests in the evenings. We usually meet on every 2nd Tuesday of the month. As for topics of discussion, you’re free to post requests on the forum.

    2.       Monthly Book Bulk Order – MS Press and OReilys are gracious enough to give our group special deep discounts. SWUG will arrange a bulk order to bring the books in. So what books you want, you can request for it.

    3.       Mad about Learning – SWUG leaders will start off a baseline virtualization lab. We will use this lab setup and set as basis for monthly, self-paced learning and hands-on training. It will also set ground for community participation. Contribute your knowledge. We could have a challenge to who produces and shares the most working labs… J

    Do look forward to the next group meeting in Feb 2010.

    Cheers,

    Dennis, Bernard, Tan Chee, Andrew, Desmond and Arthur

    Hi John,

    You just need to register via email after you received the Feb newsletter. For registration, simply email to swug@mvps.org with the following:

    - SWUG ID
    - Name
    - Email Address

    There will be more detail in the newsletter itself so do keep a look out for that. Wink

    Hi John,

    specifcally, each month, we'll send out a newsletter and invitation.

    You can watch out for it over your newsletter. Alternatively, you can watch http://sgwindowsgroup.org/blogs/swug.

    I am working on a Twitter account. To see how we can use it more effectively. #sgwindowsgroup

    haven't been on the forum and attending the SWUG meetings since it started focussing on the topics for the junior system administrators.

    hope everyone is doing fine and good.

    Cheers

    Hi Eviltoad,

    we're good. Just miss the old group too. We have some new faces in the group.
    I am working on HOL and we'll be bringing some new topics and conversations.

    I'm in the works with CPLS to let them take junior topics. Another problem is with me, can't find enough time to kick off the virtual labs.. :)

    /Dennis
