LOVE 2007 COMMUNIty LAUNCH

A Gem of Its Kind……

Like an extended family reunion, both the young and old thronged the auditorium of Microsoft Singapore on the Saturday morning of 28th April 2007. As they chatted freely and mingled among themselves, the excitement in the air was palpable. It was a heartwarming sight indeed. This was especially so for the brainchild of this event, Singapore Windows User Group (SWUG) and Singapore .NET Professional User Group (SGDOTNET) Leaders, Dennis Chung and Alvin Lau who, together with the rest of the Singapore MVPs, had toiled many nights to make this long-awaited event both a reality and success. And that special event was the LOVE 2007 Community Launch run by the community and for the community!

The morning rain did not dampened the mood of the attendees who were really all out to experience software evaluation in a whole new way. With a combined effort of 3 user groups, 2 technical tracks (IT Pros & Developers), 10 speakers and many other Ask-The-Experts, LOVE 2007 kicked off to a lively and exciting opening keynote speech by DPE Director Dilip Mistry who got the 140 participants (90+ IT Pros and 50+ Developers) all thrilled and geared up to learn more about Microsoft’s largest product release and wanting more.

In the hours that passed, brief alliances were formed, diplomatic advances made and laughter was aplenty with many new friendships forged amidst the convivial environment. LOVE 2007 finally came to an outstanding closure with an entertaining closing address by Microsoft Matthew Hardman and with almost every participant leaving the event with a prize during the lucky draw.

I would like to extend my appreciation and heartfelt thanks to the following for the strong show of support and generous sponsorship given to LOVE 2007:

It was really encouraging to see the Microsoft folks and MVPs working together with such positive spirits and smiles – all they wanted was to have satisfied audience! Like a polymerization reaction, this network can only grow bigger! I can only describe my experience for the LOVE 2007 event in one word -  Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
